<두이스집밥요리집> is both an essay and a cookbook. The author Lee Joo-hee shares the stories and recipes of 25 home-cooked dishes in the book. Each story is only one page, humorously and wittily stating the meaning of the dish to her and her cooking philosophy. Illustrations with strong Lee Joo-hee's personal style present the cooking steps. The book also includes photos of the packaging of the seasonings and ingredients she uses, allowing readers to get a glimpse of the most commonly used tofu, salt and soy sauce brands in Korean homes.

This book does not have detailed measurements, but it does have the author's persistence, willfulness and paranoia. Rather than being obsessed with cooking and diet, it is more like the author's obsession with childhood memories. These paranoias are a way for her to preserve her own and her mother's memories: "I, Lee Zhouxi, would rather be Zhang Meizi's daughter forever than being a wife or a mother of two daughters." This sentence written on the first page is like a declaration of the longest love a daughter gives to her mother.

Lee Joo-hee's life-like narrative style in the book makes you find a lot of fun when reading the original Korean text. It turns out that ketchup and mayonnaise are very scientific, it turns out that the Korean words for Japanese salad and ordinary salad cannot be mixed, it turns out that only adults know the deliciousness of eggplant, and it turns out that anchovy entrails 멸치똥 is not anchovy feces. Lee Joo-hee's words make people smile and are full of appeal. No wonder this book successfully raised funds from more than 300 readers before it was released. When you open this physical book and read to the last page, and then refer to the plastic book cover, readers will definitely feel that this book is a work of art conspired by Lee Joo-hee, the publisher and the designer.
