Kang Min-kyung, the author of "Love in the Wild", lived on Jeju Island for 10 years and recorded the scenery in every corner of Jeju, which was compiled into this book "Love in the Wild". The book includes many scenery that are not easily noticed by outsiders. Through her private perspective as an island resident for 10 years, she wrote 36 essays to share her insights into the nature of Jeju.
In Jiang Minjing's eyes, the seas in the east, south, west and north of Jeju Island have different colors. The seawater on the white beach is bright, and the seawater on the basalt is deep. The ridges of the mountains are also different. When she was a child, she liked the towering mountains, but when she grew up, she liked the gentle mountains. Because of the different state of mind, what she saw, felt and pursued gradually changed. Living in Jeju, time and life slowed down, allowing her to have more time to observe the surroundings and focus on herself.
She looked at the warehouse in the orange field, with one door and two windows, like a face asking for oranges. And the orange field at night, with yellow oranges everywhere, was like street lights in the garden, announcing the arrival of winter. And the wind has various names, and Hallasan has different styles at different angles.
Kang Min-kyung picked up fragments of these landscapes, which were peaceful and beautiful. Even after settling here for 10 years, Kang Min-kyung still kept her original intention, saying that she did not want to get accustomed to this scenery and wanted to continue to feel somewhat unfamiliar with Jeju. Therefore, the publishing house she founded was named "낯선제주", which means unfamiliar Jeju. While doing publishing and teaching sketching, she continued to spend her good days in Jeju.
