Photographer 심규동 's photo collection "Examination Won" was published in 2017 and brought great shock to Korean society. He took pictures of the Examination Won where he once lived. The emotions he felt in the Examination Won, like smoke stains and alcohol, permeated into his photos, which was shocking.

Just looking at the photos makes people feel melancholy and sad. The Examination Won is the survival site of the so-called "seven-year-old generation" and the "low-income class" young people who are pessimistic about the future. It is also the residence of middle-aged and elderly people who have nowhere to go. Although the Examination Won is barely a place to sleep, it is not regarded by the public as a place where they can live, work or rest well.

But I was deeply moved by what 심규동 said in an interview. He said, "I want to shoot as objectively as possible, because many people think that 'people living in the examination hall are poor and must be unfortunate'. I want to break such misunderstandings and prejudices. In the photo, there is a national meritorious person wearing sunglasses and dressing himself in front of the mirror - in such a life, there is actually happiness."
